I forgot to tell a lot of people, but I won't be home from... right now until monday. Woohoo visiting family i haven't seen since i was 8 year old! so if you don't get an answer before monday then it's normal (and if you don't get an answer after either it's because i suck, which is business as usual where timely replies are concerned. .__.; )

Would have made a naruto post but i don't have the time anymore. oops.

also [info]luel_exana made me the sexiest fanart ever for my GW fic Newtype's newest chapter, and it's spoiler for the end of the chapter but OH GOD SO HOT. *massive drool*

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 Episode 1:

Oh wow, I think I have a new favorite for this season. I always enjoy a good disaster movie, so I thought this would be right up my alley, and I came away pretty impressed.

What I like the most so far is the realism. Not just in the art and designs, but the characters too. They feel like real people with real problems, personalities, and interactions. This was especially brought out in all the little details like the dad grumbling about potato chips on the floor, Mirai getting picky about the shape of the cakes, the family arguments, etc.

I found Mirai to be sort of a brat with how she complains about everything, but at the same time I could relate to her a lot (I sure act that way when I'm in a bad mood). I'm already loving Yuuki though. What an adorable, good-natured boy! Who wouldn't want to have a little brother like that? ♥ And I thought it was really effective how quickly the atmosphere turned to pure terror in the last couple of minutes. BONES apparently put a lot of research into this story, and I already liked the way they depicted Tokyo in Darker than BLACK (the artwork in the OP looks amazing too), so I look forward to seeing where this goes. Hopefully by the end, Mirai will learn to appreciate her life and family more.

Umineko no Naku Koro Ni Episode 1-2:

Don't have much to say about this other than that I'm intrigued and enjoying it. I love murder mysteries too, and since this is by the creator of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, I'm hoping it will deliver a good story. There's already quite a few creepy and intense moments.

So, in all, I'm following four anime series at the moment- Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, and Umineko no Naku Koro Ni. There were some other series from Spring season that I didn't bother to check out or keep up with either, so I might go back to those if I drop any of the ones I'm watching now. Speaking of which, is anyone watching Basquash? I only saw the first episode, but is it worth continuing?

I just got around watching the last episode of YYH (which... I've never gotten around to doing so until now) and it's making me feel melancholy.

But the real point of his post: spoil the hell out of me for Torchwood.

You know, I've never been too interested in any of the previous FMA games, but I have to make an exception for this one. I kinda wish this was a movie rather than a game, since I don't have a Wii and don't plan on getting one. It's probably because the story this time doesn't revolve around some Mary Sue character but rather a member of Aerugo's royal family, which means there will be a political element, and it involves a part of the FMA world that hasn't really been explored in the manga. Claudio intrigues me as a character; does he really want peace, or is he planning something? Using Central City as the setting is a plus too; the game looks worth playing just to explore the place. And overall, it seems to focus more on the canon characters rather than casting them as background in another person's story (I haven't played any of the games, but that's the impression I got from what I've seen of them).

I don't really buy the "it ties into Volume 16 of the manga!" thing though; I don't see how a story like this could fit into that time frame, especially in regards to Scar and Winry. Though they seem to have Riza as the Fuhrer's assistant here. But anyway, if they eventually come out with a novel version of this game, I'll be sure to get it.

Some thoughts on the latest manga chapter inspired by the latest episode of the anime )

Okay, the insurance check has cleared. I need to know if there's anything in transit to me, as I'm getting ready to start replacing the games and console that were stolen. The early list is HERE... it's missing Metal Gear Solid 1-3 that I'd just picked up, two Twisted Metal games and a pair of WWF games. Just let me know if something's coming, so I don't end up duplicating things? Thanks! Rowan found me an auction for the Final Fantasy games that I can bite on, but the rest are singles I guess.

Let me know? It's time to do some shopping...

EDIT: Okay, Amazon is cheaper for the FF games anyway. Like I said, let me know.

I hate to be a bother to anyone reading this, soooo.

Survey time!

1. How many images outside of an lj-cut do you tolerate, if any? And of what size dimensions?

2. Do you prefer semi-frequent yet gross, bite sized updates, or very sparse but ginormous posts that take 30 minutes to load?

3. Is it worth shelling out $15 for a rename token. I've been thinking of a username change on and off this week. Still undecided, however...

ETA: 4. Does anybody read Alive: The Final Evolution? If yes, tell me so I can be an airheaded spazz and capslock at you about this mangaaaa

Never thought I'd be saying this but... I need to go look for Mara refs now oh goddd

"So you're the tart who led my Petey astray, hmm?" Peg said, bracing her hands firmly on her amble hips.

Maleficent looked down at the petite, feline woman glaring up at her and smiled ever so slightly.

"You seem to misunderstand the nature of mine and your husband's arrangement, madam," Maleficent said with affected pleasantry, "He is the one who sought me out to prove himself, not the other way around."

Peg continued to eye her doubtfully before letting out a gusty sigh.

"Pete did become downright unmanageable after that mid-life crisis," she said, "Had to re-live his glory days by trying to take over the world. Well, I've got news for him that fun time is over." She patted the side of her head, smoothing her up-swept orange hair and favored Maleficent with a smile as sharp edged as her nails. "In other words, sweetcakes, I'll be taking back my husband now if you don't mind."

you know this is only funny if you're like me and spent the 90s glued to Disney cartoon shows and even then it's questionable )

stolen practically word for word from [info]adesso! unless you are [info]boosette, I don't have your phone number (even if you've given it to me before) because I've just switched phones and I didn't transfer my paltry handful of numbers. if you're going to the bang! game, I really need your number or I can't call you to let you know when it'll be.

question four is because (a) like [info]adesso, I am all about hugs; and (b) I enjoy rocking the back rubs and the hand massages. casual touching for everybody!

Sirius, the immortal lord of the Dog Star, has been framed for the murder of a fellow Luminary. Normally, the sentence for the murder of a Luminary would be death, but due to Sirius’s status, he’s given a chance to escape that fate. If he can find the murder weapon, which landed on Earth, and determine the identity of the true killer, then he’ll be spared. To do so, however, he has to be reborn in a mortal body, and he only has until the death of that body to complete the mission, or he’ll die when it does.

And so Sirius is reborn-initially with virtually no memories of his true self-as part of a litter of puppies that is dumped in a river. Sirius and several of his siblings survive, however, and he is taken in by a young girl named Kathleen. Kathleen’s father, a member of the IRA, is in prison, and she lives with her uncle and his family. Her uncle is nice but pays little attention unless something is obviously wrong, while her aunt is hateful and prejudiced against the Irish. As a result, Kathleen’s younger cousin, Robin, looks up to Kathleen, but is easily cowed by his mother, and his older brother, Basil, who will no doubt grow up to be nice, but for now is spoiled and self-centered, and far too willing to join in some of his mother’s awfulness.

I really liked the relationship between Kathleen and Sirius, and how everything was shown through the eyes of a dog slowly realizing that he’s a celestial being. I also loved all the mythology crammed into the book, and the other characters in Kathleen’s town, but I thought the awfulness of Kathleen’s aunt was overdone, especially in one scene near the end, though I’m getting used to Jones’s terrible parental figures. I mean, I know there really are people and parents out there who are that horrible in the ways she shows them, I’ve just been lucky enough to have never really witnessed it, so it comes across as a bit too heavyhanded to me. Like many of Jones’s books, the ending is rather abrupt, as if she decided that it was time to wrap everything up and everything was wrapped up, but it works very well here, and I’m glad that the inherent trauma in the concept is treated as horrible and traumatic, instead of as a learning experience to help usher in adulthood.

Crisis averted. Work responded. My issues with working next week were addressed with 'No problem.' and nothing more. Guess I'd hoped for something a bit more verbal, but, at least there will be no schedule conflicts next week.

I also have no work between now and... whatever gets scheduled for the week after Otakon. *headdesk*

Holy crap, I can't believe I hated 'Sam's Town' so much the first time I heard it. This is an amazing album. o__O It took Bling (Confessions of a King) (holycrap this song is so awesome how did it not warrant a music video wtfffff?) to change my mind, but I think this might be one of the most listenable albums I know of. Like, up there with 'Mechanical Animals', 'Born to Run' and 'Fumbling Towards Ecstasy' and... and... 'Bat Out of Hell'. And speaking of 'Born to Run' am I hearing things, or is The Killers new sound TOTALLY Bruce Springsteen-esque?

Now that I've revealed my totally lame musical taste, I need to know: guys? Are The Killers still popular? Because they should be.

I'm falling behind due to insomnia/depression. I spent the night in the emergency room the other day because my kidneys were all: "WTF BANG BANG BANG" only it wasn't actually my kidneys, it was just my back pain seeping into other parts of my body. Or so the doctors said; my left side still hurts like a bitch, but they didn't find any traces of infection in my OMG URINE SAMPLE, so I'm going to trust that none of my important organs are failing. I'm still kind of embarrassed- the only thing a hypochondriac fears more than dying of something really inexplicable and obscure is wasting a doctor's time over nothing. The ER tenure satisfied Becca, however, who I think was seeking revenge for all those times I made her go to the hospital BECAUSE HER INSIDES EXPLODED. *eyeroll* I adore that girl. Really. :P

Nick showed up at my door the other day with a bag containing the following things: Persona 4, Tales of Vesperia and a WoW timecard. APPARENTLY HE NEVER WANTS ME TO FINISH WRITING THIS STUPID BOOK. But on that note:

This only took me seven months and three servers.

WoW is bad for my creativity not because I play it too much (much the opposite, if my level indicates anything ha ha) but because I get a little too into the head of my character and then all I want to do is write about her. Curse you, Wyrmrest Accord's Amazing RP Community! I was gone for three months and yet I got innumerable /waves and "welcome back!"s running through Stormwind on a shopping trip today- a lot from people I barely know! Seriously, if not for this server I'd probably hate the game.

Lilifred Bartleby Bumblehurst. Mercenary. Politician. Alcoholic. Failure.

I'm going to miss The Guild With Name Pending quite a bit, but I'm- far as I've gathered- the first gnome in my new guild, which is something kind of fun in itself I guess oh god they're going to eat me alive.

I'll miss [GWNP] forever. D: We were puerile and immature as a FAMILY.

BLAH BLAH BLAH I'LL SHUT UP ABOUT MY LAME RP. I'M NOT COOL ENOUGH TO KEEP UP WITH YOUR CRAZY MULTI-FANDOM LJ THINGAMERS OR WHATEVER IT IS YOU KIDS DO THESE DAYS. LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT WHEN I USED TO TEXT RP ON EZBOARD! *shakes old person stick*

Thoughts on Persona 4 coming soon (beyond: SHINY SHINY SHINY). Also, thoughts on why I passionately hate my favourite literary genre (Fantasy). Because oh boy, do I hate Fantasy books. I hate them as much as a Star Wars fan hates Star Wars.

But I love A Song of Ice and Fire. *sparkles* Why did no one force this series down my throat earlier? For srs!
