To go with that, I have finally answered the questions from this post. Here they are!

Went to NY Anime Festival today. There wasn't really much there--it was my first convention other than Otakon, and the difference was striking, both in content and organization. Still, they had some neat stuff and some nice artists (including Avatar light ali_wildgoose and the amazing ghostfire, who I'd happened on both on DA and at Otakon before), and there was sushi at the Maid Cafe; that's as much as anyone can ask for from a small convention, I suppose.

I didn't mean to spend as much money as I did, but then I came across the Berserk artbook and it was expensive. But I got it anyway because eeee the little pictures of the Hawks were so cute and there were so many angsty pretty Griffith pictures. I know I haven't seen really good scans around much, so if there's a specific picture you've seen smaller and would liked scanned bigger, I'll do my best.

I also got several chibi action figures. One was a Rin/Archer set, and they are adorable (and OTP); the other bunch was three Final Fantasy figures, one of Squall, one of Rinoa, and one of Penelo. So cute.

Finally, I got two doujinshi, continuing my trend of picking up clean doujin from the porn rack at conventions. One was a very prettily-drawn Locke/Celes; the other was a hilarious Fran/Balthier. I wouldn't say the latter is entirely clean, since there's plenty of nudity, but there's no on-page sex, just lots of jokes and the two of them being drunk and naked and flirty. Also, abusing Vaan.

Oh yeah, and for free, I got three Sweeney Todd posters. YES. I am so excited for that movie I think I could burst. But then I wouldn't get to see it! Oh, these cruel paradoxes.

They'd been trapped in Jersey City for so long, according to the tracking. Weeks, even. I'd given up hope.

But today...

...my seven Guts/Griffith doujinshi finally arrived.

I am so...happy...

Oh yeah, and my Cats Laughing CDs, which I'd also been waiting for excitedly, but they were kind of overshadowed by the long-awaited doujinshi.

I. My connection spent a while flickering earlier today, for no apparent reason. It had seriously better not be squirrels again. (Yes, once squirrels gnawed through my internet cable.) But it seems to be fixed now.

II. I did some catching up on Berserk today--reread volume 30 and finally read volume 31 and a few chapters of volume 32. ( Thoughts. )

I've read up through chapter 279 now. I started to download 280+ from Stoptazmo, but it crashed my browser, so...I think that's a sign that I should wait until tomorrow.

III. Was too busy reading Berserk to watch Romeo x Juliet today, so that will wait for tomorrow (er...later today). Ditto on icon-making, especially since I saved a bunch of cute panels from the Berserk bits I read in order to icon them. I think I'm too lazy to fully color those panels, but I'll color them a bit and add a bunch of effects and that should be enough.

Tomorrow will be icon day, I think. And maybe time to make some secrets for fandomsecrets. I've been putting off opening Photoshop for weeks, but now that I've rebooted, I don't have an excuse anymore.

IV. ( Some more philosophical general Berserk thoughts. )

V. The requests for het_challenge are in! I'm pretty excited about some of mine. Of the lot I got, I chose one D.Gray-man, one FF, and one Berserk. Since this is a public post I'm leaving it at that for now, but since I don't think any of the requesters are on my friendslist, I may talk about the ideas more later. Probably filtered, though.

VI. Character analysis, mostly for my benefit, since so far I have only properly semed dragonsquee into watching the Wire. (I will be fixing this soon when I burn DVDs this week for joiedecombat, infinitepryde, and ew_younerd. Damned torrents.)

I joined the Television Without Pity forums, finally, solely so I could post about the Wire. Specifically, solely so I could post in the Omar thread. I'm so predictable. ( Spam, very vague spoilers. )

I plan to get everybody riled up soon by making a post about sociopolitical stuff. Also, I have some RL angst to bitch about. Also, I am feeling kind of down because I can't seem to summon up the will to write more.

But until then...making a gratuitous Berserk post cheers me up. Because Berserk is seriously just that awesome. I think soon I'll finish reading it and then start rereading. Oh, and make a pimping post to spread the glory to everyone. Everyone who can stomach ridiculous violence, anyway.

I think this is the best meme ever, because it lets me come up with wacky ideas without actually having to put time and effort into writing those ideas.

So give me a fandom (you can also give a character and/or pairing if you want) and I'll come up with a cracked-out AU for it.

P.S. I don't really need to use this icon, but I'm doing it anyway because I love Puck, especially when he's looking like a huge dork. I need to make more icons of Berserk in general and him in particular.

As usual, not much accomplished today. This was partly due to my waking up at four in the afternoon. Sigh. At least I got out of the house, though.

On the plus side, I finally got around to reading Berserk volume 29 (oh, Farnese ♥ ♥ ♥) and watching Geass 21. Mmmm.

No icons today; I didn't feel like trying to boot up Photoshop. I'll wait until I've let the computer rest for a while before doing that.

The main point of tonight's post, however, is to share some shiny links I've been finding. Mostly Gundam SEED, a handful of others.

I just went from "I guess they're kind of cute together, I dunno though" to "OMFG OTP OTP OTP" in the space of one page. Shortly thereafter, my head exploded with fanfiction ideas.

There's one post-series futurefic I really want to write, once I catch up and am able to make reasonable predictions, about the aftermath of Guts and Griffith dying and Caska struggling with the guilt (because naturally she was heavily involved in the final battle) and pushing Farnese away until finally Serpico convinces her to let them in and they have warmfuzzy slightly fucked up OT3ness. (Thank you, Serpico, for always adding that "slightly fucked up" part.)

Also I want to write Caska/Farnese sex.

Dammit, Caska, get healed soon so I can have a canon baseline from which to write all this stuff.

Oh, and since I know ew_younerd prefers meta to fanfiction, I can do a mini-essay about the parallels between Griffith/Guts/Caska and Caska/Farnese/Serpico, what they mean, and what all this says about the themes of Berserk.

Oh, and I really want a colored version of that panel on the middle left where Farnese is turning to look at Caska behind her. fjdlksfjdsklkj OTP.
