My father has the History channel on, and they just showed the most surreal ad for a new show.

It was a series of dramatic shots of toothy dinosaur mouths and splashes of blood, capped off with the following text:

JURASSIC FIGHT CLUB

I can't make this shit up.

In other news, I read the first volume of Y: The Last Man. It hasn't completely made up for the tired and oft-abused premise yet, but I'm interested enough to read more. I'm kind of cringing at how the villains are ridiculously over-the-top man-hating feminists, but in context it kind of makes sense. And Victoria is incredibly hot. I am shamed for thinking this, but she is. So is 355, for that matter.

I want to make icons. But, well, no Photoshop right now. In the meanwhile, I might watch some anime tonight. Depends on how my eyes are doing.

Leaving for the Jersey shore tomorrow. Coming back in a week, on August 2nd. Unless something goes terribly, terribly wrong, I will have internet access there, but considering the state of my eyes, I won't be using it as much as I otherwise might. When I do use it, I'll try to work on some fanfiction, my ridiculous application for [info]sigillums, and maybe some meta.

(I saw an optometrist for a second opinion, and he somewhat more tactfully said that the guy I saw before was full of it. I have a prescription for two new pairs of glasses which I will be picking up after my vacation. How much they'll help, I don't know yet, but fingers crossed.)

Books that are coming with me
Y: The Last Man (volumes 1 and 2)
Petshop of Horrors (volumes 1-5)
The Android's Dream, by John Scalzi
Broken Angels, by Richard K. Morgan (second book in the Takeshi Kovacs series)
The Last Light of the Sun, by Guy Gavriel Kay

I want to bring Blade of the Immortal volumes 1-5, but I can't find them under all my stuff. Sadness. I'm sure they're here somewhere.

So, I've watched up to Avatar 2x02. This obviously does not make me an expert. I haven't even met Toph yet, or Mai and Ty Lee, and I'm sure I'll love all of them. But man, I love it already. Blah blah blaaaah. )

Despite Avatar, I haven't given up on other fandoms. Earlier today, I started watching Season 4 of the Wire at long, long last. This show is so damned amazing, I need to rattle my friendslist until more of you watch it. >:O I'm going to watch at least another episode later tonight. I have a terrible, terrible feeling that the kids this season are going to break my heart, and I will love it and beg for more.

Finally, I also haven't given up on my comics fandoms. I will pimp out postboot Legion of Super-Heroes some more, and you will like it. Then, just for the mood whiplash, I'll upload lots of Hellblazer. Soon. And everyone will see my idiotic love for John Constantine.

My favorite series ever crosses over with everything. I challenge all of you to find something with which it does not. You won't.

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE. Set shortly before the end of the Soul Society arc. The first time I've tried to write Byakuya.
Because you can't tell me these two aren't the same people--THE VERY SAME--just with different levels of godliness. )
You totally can't convince me otherwise.
