I came to a shocking realization the other day. I have only ever actually finished four anime: Witch Hunter Robin, Fullmetal Alchemist, Gundam SEED, and Gurren Lagann. Five, if you count FLCL, but that's only six episodes. And I have never finished a manga.

I should probably remedy this. I'll handle the manga situation later tonight or tomorrow by reading the last two volumes of Pet Shop of Horrors, at least.

I updated my excruciatingly long list of canons I want to get into. It has become daunting. I'm considering asking for recommendations of short anime and manga, but I don't think I can handle any more right now.

Meanwhile, I finished Velvet's book in Odin Sphere and started replaying the others, this time with the Japanese voices. So far I've gone through Cornelius's book (I decided to tackle that one first), and I liked him a lot more this time through. His Japanese voice wasn't in and of itself that much better than his English one, but somehow the added formality built into his speech helped drive home his character better. Also, it made him seem extra girly, which is good because I get to imagine Velvet totally topping him.

I. Not much tonight, I'm afraid, because once again, I have not been doing anything worth noting. :D; Whee! But I will ramble about a few fannish things (with many apologies to the people on my friendslist who are totally uninterested).

II. First things first: why did it take me so long to find this picture? SO PRETTY OMG. They are so happy and sparkly. (And I am going to post My Thoughts On Yaoi Kira/Lacus on your kiraraku post at some point, lacus, I just haven't been able to get them coherently together yet. Um. Oops.)

III. Big important animuuuu news! First episode of D.Gray-man is out subbed! The quality is kind of dubious, but eh, I'll probably be able to guess at what's going on, at least.

IV. Most importantly in this entire post (which just proves how dumb and pointless a post it is)...Last Character Standing (Naruto Edition) ROUND TWO!

V. My latest fic prompt meme is still open, with twelve prompts left to choose from. Written so far: Kakashi/Sasuke, Saber<--Archer, Mwu/Murrue, Dearka/Miriallia, Auron+Lulu, InoSaku and InoChou, Kakashi/Rin with Rin-->Obito, Naruto/Sasuke/Sakura, Tsunade, and Sasuke/Sakura.

Finished rereading and catching up on D.Gray-man. Let me tell you, the scan quality has been pretty shitty throughout, and the translation goes through some real rough patches. It doesn't help that Hoshino isn't that great at writing readable fight scenes. Or at maintaining continuity outside of them, for that matter. ( Snip for 69th night spoilers. )

This time around I really noticed Rinali's driving need to protect people--which is interesting because the protector role is usually assigned to male characters. I am loving her. ( Snip for brief spoilers. )

Am also digging on Allen's tortured soul and urge for martyrdom. He needs to start fighting to protect his precious people (blah blah theme of every Jump manga ever apparently) instead of to save the world, or he'll die. I'm honestly not sure whether Hoshino will kill him at the end or not. I've always cracked jokes about him being a Christ figure, but lately, what with ( spoiler ) it's become even more obvious. I'd rather he and Rinali live happily ever after, though. D:

My real question, though--is Hoshino winding this thing up? The other manga I follow (well...really only Bleach and Naruto) are huge, and I'd assumed D.Gray-man would be the same way, but it's starting to look like she's aiming for a finish soon. Does anyone have more information on that?

Anyway. At this point, I'm too exhausted to do anything productive, so I'll go hunt for some more Allen/Rinali art on the Japanweb. It's got to be out there. When I'm sane again (you know, if I ever am), I'll try to work on fic stuff. The ByakuRuki idea is sort of turning into ByakuRukiRen. But with ByakuRuki sex. Maybe I will have to give in and admit that I am shamefully compelled to write Kuchikicest.

Edit: Oh yeah. Happy birthday, feralknights! If you read fic I'd offer to write some for you, but since I don't know if you do, I'll settle for making rape eyes at you. 8)

If you want, though, since I'm replaying SO3, I'll bump up one of my Clair/Nel ideas to top priority (whatever that means) and try to do it for a September theme at 31_days.

I'm not asking for more evidence for Allen/Rinali in canon. I am totally happy with what we have. They are about as meant-to-be as you can get without a parade.

But...

...can't we please have a few more images of them together? It's awfully cruel of you to always keep them apart in official art. (Although I commend you for this--are you trying to follow in Kubotite's footsteps with the rampant lesbianism?)

My Komui wig arrived! It is not precisely a Komui wig yet; I'm going to wait until I'm actually in Atlanta to cut the bangs right and style the curls. But hey, at least I have it! Now I need, um, the beret, the slacks, the turtleneck, and the stupid sandals. I will do this!

But apparently the new chapter will Kill You All Dead, or something. I don't know. I haven't caught up since chapter 64 or something. I'm lame like that.

I also really need the rest of my costume. Anyone know where I can nab a shoulder-length straight black wig? (I'd try to get it with curls, but Komui's curls are, um, idiosyncratic. I'll have to do them myself.)

The boy waves his hammer in acknowledgment. "Yeah, yeah, go on!" He tosses the hammer up and catches it in the other hand. This makes him grin.

The old man sighs. "A Bookman does not take sides unless it serves his purpose to do so. To prevent his heart from betraying his purpose, he erases the parts of him that aren't a Bookman, and he gives a new name to the pieces that are left."

At this, the boy actually looks up. For once, he seems interested. "Does this mean I get to pick my own name?"

"Yes. Choose wisely."

The boy doesn't hesitate, doesn't miss a beat. "I wanna be Hammer Dude! No, Sir Hammer Dude!"

Silence. The old man looks down at him.

The newly christened Sir Hammer Dude hesitates for a moment, cheerful hope slowly dribbling out of his face. "...no?"

"Absolutely not."

"How about Rabi?"

"That'll do."
