Yes, yes, I know, I have so many new things to watch--I shouldn't be getting back into old fandoms just because I've been hit with a profound urge to RP an old favorite character who I never did RP, ever, back when I was first super into him. Maybe I'm just desperately craving spy awesomeness.

But seriously. Garak would be so awesome on [info]polychromatic. Especially if I could get someone to play a Bashir for me--but I digress. I've given in. I'm downloading the entirety of Deep Space 9 (see glorious torrent of win here) so that I can rewatch the relevant episodes, as well as first-watch those I failed to see before--including, shockingly, the allegedly awesome two-parter about the Cardassian attack on the Dominion. I was saving it so that I could better relish the awesomeness, you see, and then my stupid DVR randomly deleted it. Hate my stupid DVR. And then I never got around to watching my downloaded version.

I've also finally given in and ordered a used copy of A Stitch in Time. I am bitter that I had to shell out sixteen bucks for it, and am now going to have to wait who knows how long for it to arrive, thanks to the ineptitude of the postal service in failing to deliver [info]cephiedvariable's original attempt to hook me up with it. Or was it something more sinister? Remarkably gay tie-in novels coming over the border from Canada are the least of your worries, Homeland Security!

Anyway, don't worry too much, as I also plan to start Gundam 00 tonight. I'd like to get through the first five episodes and make a reaction post on them, although that may be asking too much of myself. We'll see.

To make up for the lack of non-Star-Trek content in this entry, here is a belated meme. Some time back, [info]dragonsquee picked five of my interests for me to explain. Here they are at last:

lol this is spammy )

Feel free to ask me to explain more, or to ask me to pick some of yours for you to explain.

I just rewatched "Broken Link."

Could Garak possibly be any more awesome? I do not believe so. I think he is at the limit of absolute awesome possible in this universe. I just. I'd already seen that episode (albeit when Odo was my favorite character; Garak hadn't hit #1 spot, and with it the accompanying obsession rights, at that point), and I was still floored by his awesome. (Especially that scene with Worf. He is so amazing when he's gone totally unhinged with his desperate loyalty.)

I think I will probably explode in my chair when I try to watch "Improbable Causes" and "The Die Is Cast."

For now, though, I'm going to try to make some simple icons, because I don't think I could bear to deface the awesome that is Garak (and also Odo and maybe a few others) with fancy text.

For those of you feeling gypped by how Trekkish this entry is, have a meme:

If my LJ were a fandom:

a. Who would people ship me with?
b. Who would be my arch-nemesis?
c. What would a Mary Sue in my fandom be like?
d. When or how did I/will I jump the shark?
e. Write a one sentence summary of the story that would win the Best Fanfic Award in my fandom.
f. What would a typical badfic involve?
g. Who would be the BNFs in my fandom?
h. Why would my fandom end up on fandom_wank?

what

no.

seriously guys I love bondage, but Garak tops. :(

on the other hand, mirror!Garak is basically Dukat with more points in Social attributes, so I guess it makes sense.

Edit: On the plus side, at least he's still everythingsexual in the mirror world. Although there is something seriously wrong with him hitting on Worf.

...it seems that SpikeTV has replaced all of its DS9 and TNG reruns with Voyager reruns.

That channel just lost its last redeeming value. :|

Edit: FALSE ALARM. It appears to be just a week-long marathon. I still wish they'd go back to running two episodes of DS9 a day, though. :<

It was really interesting, actually, because I first watched the episode some months ago as a non-shipper, and I adored it then because it really spoke to my spy fetish, but now? pwn. Even though it's a silly holodeck episode, it totally encapsulates everything that makes Garak/Bashir awesome.

(Note to self: get the right screencaps from "The Wire" to make a Garak/Bashir icon, since Trekcore, for once, does not have them.)

Also, there may be a list of Heterosexual Things One Can Say Upon Waking Up In A Holodeck Recreation Of A 1960s Mansion.

Nowhere on this list is the following comment:

"Another decorator's nightmare. This era has a distinct lack of taste."

I mean, seriously. There is no way that Garak is straight. No way at all.

Oh man, I'd almost forgotten how much I loved Odo. Then I watched "Heart of Stone" for the first time in years.
I hate to use the term "woobie," but, well... )

guys, this episode is really, really gay.

House and Wilson can't even compare.

the plot so far appears to be "a good doctor knows when to stalk his boyfriend."

Edit: Finished watching. OTP get.

I didn't realize you were allowed to run hour-long slashfics on Star Trek.

"As you may also know, I have a clothing shop nearby, so...if you should require any apparel, or merely wish, as I do...for a bit of enjoyable company now and then...I'm at your disposal, doctor."

How can the scriptwriters have one man say that to another, in that slithery, ambiguous tone of voice, and then later, when they find out that people slash the two of them, be freaked out?

I don't undersnad;;;;

After they found out about the slash, the scriptwriters tried so hard to make Garak straight, but his actor continued to defeat them. :D

Edit: Hahahaha oh my God he felt Julian up. I'm looking at the script now and that wasn't in it. I love you Andrew Robinson.

I hate you for having an upload of THE ENTIRETY OF DEEP SPACE NINE.

I can't even say the things I deleted off my USB drive to start downloading that, or half my friendslist would come together to lynch me over the internets.

It looks like the files require me to download a special video player program. I hope to God that when the download finishes approximately a century from now, it actually works, or my rage will be blinding. :|

The next run of Deep Space Nine episodes on SpikeTV starts tomorrow at 1:00 pm, with Part 1 of the pilot, "Emissary."

Me, I'll be catching up on the last big plot arc.

re: "His Way":

Seriously, did they forget which couple they were writing for? Hint: it was the angsty fucked-up one with a world of devotion between them but many things that made it difficult for them to work out. Not the cute married one or the quirky, intense, kind of sexy alien one.

That just wasn't right. I also hate the idea that Odo had to change in order to win Kira's love. Although at least they got it right that he would never have initiated anything with her.

Frankly, I would have been happy even if they'd never hooked up, so long as it hadn't happened like this.

Oh well. At least they can still get it right in the episode that follows.

"The Kai would say that you lack faith."
"And would you agree?"
"I just don't know how people make it through the day without it."
"We manage. Besides, I do have faith in some things."
"Hmmm...such as?"
"You."

So it's a mixed bag.

Blah. I'll make some Star Trek icons soon. I have a cute idea for one with Data and Lore, and I need to dig up good screencaps of Odo, too.

GARAK (after killing one of two enemy soldiers): I'd love to stay and hypothesize all afternoon, but once I've set my mind to a task, I hate to leave it unfinished.
[O'Brien stares at him, frowns. He stands up abruptly and turns to face Garak.]
GARAK: What is it, Chief?
O'BRIEN: You look different.
GARAK: How so?
O'BRIEN: That's not the face of a tailor.
GARAK: I'm not a tailor. For the moment, anyway.
holy shit my spy fetish. I'm glad I didn't RP enough with [info]amurderofcrows's Garak for the Mandytaint to set in.

Deep Space Nine
Odo is in love with Kira (actually I already knew this from a while back). She doesn't love him back.
Lwaxana is in love with Odo. He doesn't love her back.
Kira is involved with some guy named Sh'kar.
Miles O'Brien is married to Keiko (also already knew this).
Kira is having O'Brien's baby.
Kira and O'Brien have awkward and embarrassing UST.
Worf and Jadzia are doing it.
Quark and some Klingon chick are doing it.
Some Bajoran chick wants into Odo's pants.
Faggy McMandytaint the tailor is too busy being a gay Cardassian spy to get it on with anybody.

The Next Generation
Data is the cutest thing ever.
Data's mew gives him the Lovings he deserves.
