I just went from "I guess they're kind of cute together, I dunno though" to "OMFG OTP OTP OTP" in the space of one page. Shortly thereafter, my head exploded with fanfiction ideas.

There's one post-series futurefic I really want to write, once I catch up and am able to make reasonable predictions, about the aftermath of Guts and Griffith dying and Caska struggling with the guilt (because naturally she was heavily involved in the final battle) and pushing Farnese away until finally Serpico convinces her to let them in and they have warmfuzzy slightly fucked up OT3ness. (Thank you, Serpico, for always adding that "slightly fucked up" part.)

Also I want to write Caska/Farnese sex.

Dammit, Caska, get healed soon so I can have a canon baseline from which to write all this stuff.

Oh, and since I know ew_younerd prefers meta to fanfiction, I can do a mini-essay about the parallels between Griffith/Guts/Caska and Caska/Farnese/Serpico, what they mean, and what all this says about the themes of Berserk.

As some of you may have surmised from the contents of my last post and my failure to respond to anything for a while afterwards, I was down with cramps for all of yesterday afternoon. It was one of my worst episodes. Usually they're annoying but mild, but a few times every year, I'm reduced to sobbing and wailing and curling up in a fetal position either in bed or, if I'm nauseous enough, on the bathroom floor.

Unsurprisingly, the Vicodin didn't really help the pain, but it did make me space out enough that I was able to sleep through the worst of it. That is, after I took the second pill; I'd thrown up the first one. Sigh.

I'm pretty much better now, but unfortunately, the disruption to my sleep schedule and overall abuse of my body from within has triggered the return of my cold. It's not as bad as before, but it is annoying. Blech.

So I'm spending most of my day watching Scrubs when the TV is free and playing FFVI Advance when it isn't. I should do some icons, but I think I'll let that wait for tomorrow. For now, I'm considering my fanfiction options. I have a few particularly pressing options right now, but I can't decide which ones to work on. So, as usual, I turn to my friendslist for help.

I. lololol icons. Finally made that post with my latest batch of Geass icons and colorbars. Predictably, even though I stated in my post to code_geass that I'd only done colorbars for Suzaku, Euphemia, Kallen, and the girls in general, someone complained that I hadn't done one for Lelouch. Oh, Geass fandom.

I will make a Bleach and Naruto iconpost shortly--after this week's icontests conclude. I'll also put up my Cagalli and Euphemia tables for iconfiend100 (I have eight icons done for the former, six for the latter). Someday I should do a D.Gray iconpost, but man, since the anime art is so awful and there's so little official art, I don't have any material to icon. I really need to learn how to color manga images, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it.

II. I'm a bit late on this, but. Anime/manga friending meme. I don't usually participate in these things, but I thought what the hell.

III. I haven't been doing fanfic or anything lately because I've been channeling all my energy into descing for the new Final Fantasy MUSH. It's more descs than I've done since years ago when I did descing for ineffablegame. Some of them have been pretty cool, and I'm looking forward to descing Balamb Garden (especially the training center), but all in all, I'm going to be glad when it's over and I can get back to all that fanfic I've left in the lurch. I'd really like to finish that IshiHime idea, not to mention get cracking on the next chapter of "Spiral Out" (the sooner I finish that the sooner I can start on one of my other chaptered ideas. Even though I should really do "Firebird" instead. Sigh). And all the other fic ideas I have to do.

IV. Also. I should really get to work on stuff for amnesty month at ship_manifesto. ew_younerd, we need to discuss the LeeTen essay sometime. ( Snip for spam, but Tati needs to click this )
I also need to get to work on that Allen/Rinali essay that I should have done months ago. Which means catching up on D.Gray-man.

V. Watched some more of the Wire tonight. It's still a little bit hard to follow, but it's getting better, and I'll definitely stick with it at this point, if only because some of the characters are really awesome. Omar is the man, and now he is pissed off, and characters I like being pissed off always makes me happy. I need to find screencaps so I can make icons of him. Of course, given that I still haven't found B5 screencaps to make Marcus icons, these may be a while in coming.

VI. I am getting tired of my "am but mad north-north-west" Itachi icon. I mean, it's Itachi. It may be an excellent candidate to be replaced with a ~*~Chainsaw of LOVE~*~ icon. I mean, I don't even like Mao that much (he kind of reads as a plot device to me), but that scene was just so awesome.

So, I've decided to take another shot at doing the contest on ichi_ruki. ( Ideas, and a poll regarding the ideas, under the cut. )
Not guaranteed that I'll actually get around to writing any of these, but I'll at least give it a go.

And yes, I definitely need a better IchiRuki icon.

I. Long time no post--at least for me. Why? I guess I just haven't been doing very much that's worthy of reporting.

II. I did, however, write this Komui and Rinali fic for 31_days. I am not all that pleased with the fic itself--it could have been so much better if I hadn't started writing it with only a few hours to spare, while I was still somewhat drunk--but at least there is now one more Li siblings fanfiction out there in this intarweb.

III. Mostly, though, I've been watching Babylon 5. Lots and lots of Babylon 5. What will I do when I've finished watching seasons 2-4 with my father? (We're almost finished with season 3.) Well, other than get my heart broken again by Marcus and Ivanova. I suppose I'll look up that place where I heard you can watch low-quality versions of season 1 episodes online...I probably won't bother with season 5, what with Claudia Christian being gone and pretty much everything being wrapped up anyway.

But anyway, my question is: does anyone know where I can find B5 screencaps? If I can't find the ones I want (mostly of Marcus, because I need icons of him inflicting violence or having violence inflicted upon him. It is required), I may have to stick the DVDs into my father's computer (or, if I really want to tempt fate, mine) and wrestle the computer-devil until I can pull screencaps off them myself. If that's the case, well...I'll take requests if anyone wants to make them.

IV. No, brain, no. I do not write B5 fic. I will not write "Five Times Susan Ivanova Thought She Could Love Again" even if I already have ideas for three of the entries on the list, because it would be stupidly maudlin and I do not write B5 fic.

Even if #2 would have lesbian sex.

V. I had a ridiculous dream last night where my family and I were living in an apartment in NYC and we were each paying $80 a week (so $320 a week in all) for rent, until I got this powerful mystic ring and people started blowing up the building in an attempt to get to the ring and take it from me. Then the landlord upped my personal rent to a billion dollars a week.

VI. So, question.

I have an idea for a fic prompt community: every two weeks, I'd pull ten phrases from an issue of New Scientist and slap them up on the community. Then people would have the next two weeks to post fics (and three weeks to write them, as the themes would be announced a week in advance) using any of those themes.

I think it's a solid idea, but I'm not sure how I'd go about promoting the community. It could be really tough. I asked team7 if she has any tips.

VII. Speaking of which--the reason I was emailing team7 in the first place is I was asking for another month at 31_days. And holy crap, they're filled up through 2007 already. So I took one in 2008, but damn. That's insane.

Plans for making today Cute Day were wrecked. By what? Fate/Stay night, damn its eyes.

I just watched episodes 13-15 and had some things explained to me (yes, I needed it, shut up I'm really dense), and I am totally feeling the love for the Saber-Shirou-Archer-Rin love cube. Also, Archer is now my favorite character.

As much as I hate to admit it, I really kind of want to write a long fic now (not multichaptered, I think, because the structure isn't right for it) juxtaposing flashbacks with Archer running into Saber in a previous Grail War with him attempting to forge a weird life with Rin somehow after this War.

Problem is, while I'm probably going to work from the anime timeline, I'll definitely need more information on the canon. I really, really hope someone translates the game soon, or I may have to find a translated script and just read that. BUT I WANT MY PORN.

However, the main reason I am making this post is to draw everyone's attention to the canonicity of Rin/Saber. I have collected screencaps.

Hopefully a quasi-decent night of sleep will rid me of the bothersome desire to write a fic where Shikamaru and Temari wind up as co-Hokages. Especially since I kind of do want to write a serious fic about them that doesn't end in tragedy, and them winding up working together somehow is really the only way I can see them having a stable relationship and remaining in character...no! Dammit, I must resist!

Which was good, ( because the dream I'd woken up from was less than pleasant. )
The terror went away when I woke up and realized that Lovecraftian beings were not plotting humanity's doom, but a sense of anxiety has followed me all day. Hopefully it's either a remnant of the dream or a reaction to the new ADD drug that will go away as I adjust.

I also started watching "Skin of Evil" for the first time today, but find myself oddly reluctant to continue, because even from the craptastic first-season episodes I've been watching lately, I've come to like Tasha Yar. She's a woman with a typically masculine job (security) in a show where both the other women have typically feminine jobs (healing and emotions). And while I don't think either one of the others is a bad character (well, I have some reservations about Troi. But not enough to really make me condemn the character as a whole), I find it a pity that the different perspective Tasha brought--prickly but passionate, devoted and professional but insecure--had to go so soon after the show started.

Eh. I'll watch it anyway.

And maybe I can even poke myself into working on my SEED fic later. And I think it's getting to be about the time where I should get another entry out for 30_kisses. I do have a couple ideas; I should work on one of them.

Maybe I'll encourage myself with another poll about my fanfiction; it's been a while since the last one.

It's set several centuries in the future; Byakuya is dead and Rukia is in charge of the Kuchiki and holds a great deal of sway over Soul Society politics. Her primary/official consort is Renji, but she has an awful lot of dalliances, because she is That Kind Of Lady.

Sasuke is the first person allowed into Seireitei from the Narutoverse in many a century. I don't know why yet.

The Rukia/Sasuke dynamic is actually a lot like the Kakashi/Sasuke one in this idea; she winds up as his mentor.

Or at least not too overpowered.

Don't worry, though, I still have fic to write. I will start on muffytaj's Byakuya fic soon--it's sort of turning out as much about ByakuHisa as it is about ByakuRuki; I hope that's okay.

I also really really need to work on "Spiral Out." And eventually I will reread Bleach so I can work some more on "Firebird." Eventually.

It'll be shortfic, though! ...and I already have ideas for longer fanfic. Which involves me actually doing medical research. Help.

I did, at least, finish my Sasuke vs. Itachi soundtrack for fst. Yay.

Bad, fic-related: I am so pwned by House, the show and the character, that I am considering doing medical research so I can write a decent fanfic with the proper atmosphere for the genre. But I refuse to let it get that bad. I will resist.
Good, fic-related: I have some interesting and quite possibly writeable ideas for Cagalli fic, although I would probably have to rewatch some of the series to write it. That's all right, though, since I'll really have to rewatch anyway to catch everything I need for the giant Fllayfic. Just like I need to reread Bleach to write "Firebird"--which I find myself more and more motivated to write. Slowly, mind you, but it's getting there.
Bad, music-related: Someone posted an ItaSasu FST on fst before I could get around to it. It's an FST for Uchihacest, too, not their canon relationship. Way to follow the monthly theme, man. I suppose I'll try doing mine anyway in the next couple of days. These are the aspects of the relationship I still need songs for: a) Sasuke pre-massacre b) the tensions leading up to the massacre c) Itachi's return to Konoha d) Sasuke's reaction to Itachi's return to Konoha. Instrumental or foreign language tracks are fine. Anyone have any ideas?
Good, music-related: ashchan sent me some pretty songs from Wicked. They reminded me of a more obscure musical I'd loved a while back despite its sappiness and overwrought lyrics. Sure enough, when I looked it up, the music and lyrics were by the same guy who did Wicked. So I popped the CD in and ripped some of my favorite songs from Children of Eden, then uploaded them to share.

I tore through fifteen House episodes in three days. How did that happen? Haven't watched any today, though, because torrenting slows down my computer too much to watch House on Media Player and for some reason it doesn't work in Winamp; the visuals don't come through. Oh, well, I'll get by.

Meanwhile, fending off SEED ficbunnies. I have a sort of Cagalli-centric Athrun/Cagalli idea, but not sure if I have enough of a grip on the characters to write it. Of course, if I'm ever going to get the Fllayfic into gear, I should get Athrun and Cagalli's interactions down beforehand. For some reason SEED inspires me with weird character-study-ish ideas. On that note, I should work on my Mwu character study some more.

But so lazy. If it weren't for my mother and brother hogging the TV, I'd probably be down there watching DVRed Star Trek. Mmm, Star Trek. Please let me not acquire it as a fandom.
