1. Comment on this post.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of five fictional characters whose name starts with that letter and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.

[info]paperclipchains gave me L.

This gets spammy. )

I came to a shocking realization the other day. I have only ever actually finished four anime: Witch Hunter Robin, Fullmetal Alchemist, Gundam SEED, and Gurren Lagann. Five, if you count FLCL, but that's only six episodes. And I have never finished a manga.

I should probably remedy this. I'll handle the manga situation later tonight or tomorrow by reading the last two volumes of Pet Shop of Horrors, at least.

I updated my excruciatingly long list of canons I want to get into. It has become daunting. I'm considering asking for recommendations of short anime and manga, but I don't think I can handle any more right now.

Meanwhile, I finished Velvet's book in Odin Sphere and started replaying the others, this time with the Japanese voices. So far I've gone through Cornelius's book (I decided to tackle that one first), and I liked him a lot more this time through. His Japanese voice wasn't in and of itself that much better than his English one, but somehow the added formality built into his speech helped drive home his character better. Also, it made him seem extra girly, which is good because I get to imagine Velvet totally topping him.

So I decided to make the last few secrets for [info]fandomsecrets that have been bugging me, then get the hell out of Dodge, by which I mean the Troll Cavern, by which I mean the land of FEMINISTS SUCK AND GIRLS HAVE COOTIES AND I CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO THINK BECAUSE IT HUUUUURTS, by which I mean the [info]fandomsecrets community.

I was going to make more, but then I realized: I hate it when people post angry opinions disguised as secrets, and that's what a lot of these would be. I actually am not ashamed of them. So instead, I'm going to just post them here.

My opinions: let me show you them. )

Some other stuff, before I forget:
--Am up to the epilogue of Velvet's book in Odin Sphere. After relentless grinding and much dining out, she is at HP Level 40. She's a few levels behind in Psypher, though. I think when I replay the various books, I'll swap to the Japanese voice tracks for variety.
--Velvet is really distracting to watch. It's not that she jiggles...it's that her jiggle is not nearly as unrealistic and bizarre as Odette's, the most prominent offender of this type until Velvet's book. She still jiggles more than a real woman would (possibly because she dresses in scarves and chains rather than anything practical), but her boobs move as if they were part of her chest rather than wild animals sealed inside airbags and leashed to her body. It's unexpected.
--Spending nearly five hours straight working on my Simon/Nia essay wiped out my creativity pretty badly yesterday. I suck. I was going to get the second draft done over the weekend, but I think it'll have to wait for next week. Hopefully I'll still be done with the whole thing by the end of that week, though.
--Going into NYC tomorrow. Delicious dumplings await.

Should I get a beta for my fic?

I mean, I've gotten along so far without one, but it seems to be widely acknowledged as an irredeemably arrogant attitude in The World Of Fandom to go without a beta. And I know my fic isn't perfect, it's just that nobody ever seems to bother telling me how I can improve it.

For now, though, even though I have approximately a million (actually four) fic-things to write, I am focusing on setting up Rinoa on [info]flegends. By which I mean I'm replaying FFVIII and occasionally taking a break to bitch about how I hate setup.
