1. "Whisper," Evanescence
Fallen angels at my feet,
Whispered voices at my ear.
Death before my eyes,
Lying next to me, I fear.
2. "Oyster," Bel Canto
The key to your box, it is out of my reach.
I've been searching for it so long.
If I could live in the open sea,
I would surely have found the one.
3. "I Kissed a Girl," Jill Sobule
I kissed a girl, her lips were sweet,
She was just like kissing me.
I kissed a girl, won't change the world,
But I'm so glad
I kissed a girl.
4. "Sooner Or Later," Dick Tracy (Stephen Sondheim, performed by Bernadette Peters)
Sooner or later you're gonna be mine,
Sooner or later you're gonna be fine.
Baby, it's time that you face it--
I always get my man.
5. "The Queen and the Soldier," Suzanne Vega
The soldier came knocking upon the queen's door.
He said, "I am not fighting for you any more."
The queen knew she'd seen his face someplace before,
And slowly she let him inside.
6. "Commissar," Savatage
Could it be, commissar,
The dark embraces
All as darkness will,
And in that dark we'll drown?
7. "Someone's Gonna Break Your Heart," Jill Sobule
Someone's gonna break your heart someday,
And that day is coming soon.
You can't carry on this way--
Someone's gonna break your heart someday.
8. "Somewhere in New Mexico," Jill Sobule
Maybe I'll lay on the highway somewhere in New Mexico
And wait for a strange light to come and take me home.
Maybe I'll stand by the statue and wait for her to cry.
I'd love to see a miracle once before I die.
9. "On the Edge," Weezer
There ain't no better way to fly.
I punched the devil in the eye.
There ain't no better way to live
On the edge.
10. "Runaway Train," Soul Asylum
I can go where no one else can go,
I know what no one else knows.
Here I am just a-drownin' in the rain
With a ticket for a runaway train.
11. "I Must Be Dreaming," Evanescence
It's not what it seems,
Not what you think,
No, I must be dreaming.

I just want everything.
I just want everyone to see me happy and safe in your arms.
Instead I guess I have to wait,
Guess I have to wait until our hearts unite, until you redecide.
13. "I Go to Extremes," Billy Joel
Sometimes I lie awake, night after night,
Coming apart at the seams.
Eager to please, ready to fight--
Why do I go to extremes?
14. "Lies," Evanescence
Bound at every limb by my shackles of fear,
Sealed with lies through so many tears,
Lost from within, pursuing the end,
I fight for the chance to be lied to again.
15. "Sleep," Savatage
And all I seek,
A final chance to speak,
And I would let the whole thing keep
If I could just sleep.
16. "This Is What It Is," The Wild Party
This is what it is--
To know the day
And meet the sun
And find that I am not
The only one...
17. "St. Clare," Suzanne Vega
Call on the saint
When the white candle burns,
Keeping her safe
Until her return.
18. "Dreaming Girl," Bel Canto
I am such a peculiar girl,
Have my dreams and thoughts in another world,
But I live my life.
19. "Cosmic Dare," the Seatbelts
Anything goes in this cosmic dare.
Anything goes, so take care.
Did you feel my heart beat to your sighs?
Mon amour, sweet love of mine.
20. "Black Knight's Work," Cats Laughing
When the black knight moves, you can feel the darkness coming on,
You can hear the city hide itself away till dawn.
Between the knife edge and the skin, maybe you'll see the fix go in--
Before the black knight moves again, you better be long gone.
21. "Being Alive," Company (Stephen Sondheim, performed by Bernadette Peters)
Somebody, pull me up short
And put me through hell
And give me support
For being alive,
Make me alive.
22. "A Shoulder to the Wheel," Bel Canto
You're trying hard to reconstruct your image,
And you're doing right,
But I think that you will always stay like this
When you put your idle shoulder to the wheel.
23. "The Dinosaur-Slipper-Man," Bel Canto
The dinosaur-slipper-man does the very best he can
To make a living out if what he does.
He's selling dinosaur-slippers and dinosaur-ties.
24. "Bitter," Jill Sobule
And I don't wanna get jaded,
Petrified and weighted.
I don't wanna get bitter like you.
25. "Nightgown of the Sullen Moon," They Might Be Giants
Fire alarms go off in your head--
In the nightgown of the sullen moon.
How the windows lean into the room
In the nightgown of the sullen moon.
26. "Images," Bel Canto
It took some time but when it did cross my mind,
It felt like something inside me was set free.
Images of levitating frogs in motion high up above in enormous magnetic fields.
Images of fishes hopping up from the ocean.
27. "Some People," Gypsy (Stephen Sondheim and Jule Styne, performed by Bernadette Peters)
Some people sit on their butts,
Got the dream--yeah, but not the guts!
That's livin' for some people,
For some humdrum people,
28. "Chance," Savatage

That waiting in the dark like destiny
Are those who kiss the dogs of war,
And there is no tomorrow, no tomorrow.
Take a chance!
29. "Tempest," Mary Prankster
But if you think this kind of tempest
May just be your cup of tea,
Then I'd like to offer you
The heart of me.
30. "Temptation Waits," Garbage
When I'm not sure what I'm looking for,
When I'm not sure what I'm living for,
When I'm not sure who I am,
Well. That's a little uneven. I do have that much Evanescence and probably that much Savatage (actually, on second thought, a fair representation would include more Savatage), but the Jill Sobule is all out of proportion; hell, that's nearly all of her music that I have, right there in that randomized thirty (save for the best one, "Vrbana Bridge"). The Bel Canto is a little excessive, but I do have an awful lot of it. And believe it or not, the showtunes performed by Bernadette Peters are out of proportion. I don't have that many of them.
